The tournament organized by Orissa State Handball Association came to an end here at Kalinga Stadium today. The tournament consisted of two categories, Junior (Under-12) and Sub-junior (under-15).
Jajpur emerged with a double crown by capturing both the titles under the boy’s category. Meanwhile Cuttack defeated Jagatsinghpur 6-4 to capture the girl’s junior title. Jagatsinghpur took its sweet revenge by defeating Cuttack 7-6 in a nail-biting thriller to take the sub-junior girls title.
It has also been disclosed that a coaching camp shall be conducted after the tournament. 70 players currently participating in the tournament shall be chosen for the camp and will receive training there. Such camps shall be held at regular intervals and in all age categories. Players for the national meet shall be selected from such camps.
Further national tournaments for girls and boys shall also be held at Himachal Pradesh (July 18-23), Indore (July 30- 6 August) etc,.
